Tyler Thompson was born and raised in Columbia City, Indiana and a former professional motocross racer. He started racing at a very young age and did well through the amateur ranks, racing at Loretta Lynn’s multiple times from little bikes to the Pro-Sport and Vet classes. After losing his father at the young age of 17, he started working with local riders in the evenings to help fund his dream of racing professionally, while still being a full-time student and working part time. In 2004, he met his wife Susanwho was born and raised in Crown Point, Indiana and grew up racing. That same year, he earned his pro card and him, and Susan spent many years traveling the country racing as many of the Supercross and Motocross Pro Nationals they could afford. Shortly after his pro career ended, he established Thompson MX Academy with a vision to share his knowledge and help the up-and-coming generations of riders fulfill their dreams as well.

Tyler operated for many years holding evening and weekend training sessions in

Northwest Indiana. During the winters, he would take small groups of riders down south

on the weekends to ride and train. Since 2019, Tyler has been training in Georgia and

Florida and building a reputable and successful training program while being one of thevery first trainers to become USMCA certified.

Tyler’s focus is a family-based training program. They have two boys, Ryder (17) and

Revin (9) racing and training full time. Tyler’s main goal has always been to give back to

the up-and-coming generation as much as possible through instilling hard work ethic

while still keeping things fun. His training philosophy has always been “work hard suck

less” with a very hands-on training approach. Whether it’s on the track or working out in

the gym, you will always find him close by keeping every rider smiling.

We are very excited for the opportunity to have Tyler and Susan return back to their

roots in Indiana and join the Moto Speed Factory Team!
